Our History

Dr Neil Bouwer bought Hennie Alberts Veterinary Clinic in 2006. He was joined at the practice by Dr Donna Kruger in 2010 and in 2014 by Dr Lisa Sacchetti.

The practice is a well-established clinic, which has maintained a high standard of care over the years.

With caring passionate vets, friendly receptionists, dedicated kennel staff, and a qualified vet nurse, our clients have come to know and trust us as vets who care.

We constantly strive to improve our service and equipment we have in order to offer the best care possible.

Drs Donna and Lisa bought the clinic in 2022.

What Drives Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the highest quality care to our patients while providing clients with education and assistance in all aspects of animal care. We treat owners and their pets with respect, honesty, and compassion, while treating every animal as our own.
Save a Life

Consider Adopting

ADOPT. DON’T SHOP.

The decision to introduce a pet into your life is one that should be thought through carefully and deliberately. While we understand and respect that some owners may prefer buying from a breeder, recognise that there are good reasons to purchase a pure breed dog, and would never disparage owners who buy from breeders, there are good reasons to consider adopting rather than shopping for your next pet.

ADOPTION SAVES LIVES
Perhaps the most significant consideration of all is that adoption saves lives. By adopting, you offer a pet another chance at life. Some have terrible pasts, having been abused, abandoned, or left to fend for themselves. Adoption gives a pet a happy and safe home where they can learn to love again.
ADOPTION HELPS OVERPOPULATION
By choosing to adopt rather than shop for a specific breed or type of pet, you care for an animal that already needs support instead of bringing another pet into the world.
ADOPTION SUPPORTS SHELTERS

By adopting, you lessen the tremendous load carried by the many animal shelters in our country, who are doing tremendous work to help abandoned animals. Shelters are providing invaluable service to the animals in their care. Every adopted pet gives another pet an opportunity for shelter.

ADOPTION ENCOURAGES ADOPTIONS
People may be wary of adopting, or not think of adopting when looking for a pet. By adopting, you show your friends that adoption works and can bring great joy into your family through a new pet.
ADOPTION COSTS LESS

While there will be initial adoption fees, and possibly vaccination, sterilisation, and microchipping costs, adopting a pet is usually significantly cheaper than purchasing from a breeder.

Our Staff

Dr Donna Kruger

Dr Donna Kruger

Veterinarian

Dr Donna has been with the clinic since January 2010 and, together with Dr Lisa, bought the clinic in 2022. She wanted to be a vet since childhood. She is passionate about small animal medicine and surgery and enjoys educating owners on prevention control.

Dr Donna has a Labrador-cross called Fynn and a terrier cross called Kenny, both unclaimed strays adopted from the clinic. She also has Ginny, a crossbreed, who was adopted from the Animal Anti Cruelty League.

Loki is a mischievous grey cat who was bottle fed after found abandoned only a few days old.

She also owns a beautiful horse named Bourbon Magic, with whom she spends a great deal of her time training and competing on.

Dr Donna also enjoys her leisure time with a good book and socialising with her friends.

Dr Lisa Sacchetti

Dr Lisa Sacchetti

Veterinarian

Dr Lisa has been with Hennie Alberts Vet since January 2014 and, together with Dr Donna, bought the clinic in 2022. She has a special interest in small animal surgery, especially soft tissue and orthopaedic. She is also passionate about osteo-arthritis pain support and management.

She has two horses and four dogs: Vlenters, a cross Corgi, named as such as he was rescued with two broken back legs while Dr Lisa was still a student at Onderstepoort. Vader a crossbreed was first thought to be a small breed but ended up being a 25kg dog. Eddie is a very boisterous Staffie that she hand reared from a few days old. Rosie came in as an emaciated stray and tugged on Lisa’s heartstrings. She is now living her best life with the rest of the pack.

Monty is a cat Dr Lisa adopted from the first clinic she worked at. He had a broken leg, which was repaired and then the owners never came to fetch him. He is a real character who is very vocal, so it’s no surprise he wormed his way into her heart.

Dr Lisa also has two chinchillas: Gonzo and Frankie. Chinchillas may look like awesome little pets but they are a lot of hard work.

Her hobbies include horse riding and painting.
